Something I’m consistently waiting for is new J. Cole. As rapper and producer he’s one of the few who can deftly do both. Crafting tracks that can get spins across the landscape of hip hop. So to my delight he just released “Power Trip” for your streaming pleasure to his Soundcloud. The track features Miguel who’s ubiquity is growing by the minute and I can’t be mad at that. Take a listen:
Fresh new [e aka Cloudeater for everyone’s ears. This time they link up with DC & MMG’s Wale to release “Faces”.
Released this morning as an exclusive via Jay Z’s Life+Times, hopefully that sorta platform gives [e a bigger profile; they are a band with a bright future. Further more on this track they were able to get Wale back on his shit, not that MMG Wale is bad, but I feel its content and style hasn’t given him a chance to shine and express why he was so hot a few years ago in the first place.
My man Dave Edwards just put down his latest remix; this time to Louis La Roche‘s “Untrue” and its available for FREE download.
Keep an eye and ear out for Dave Edwards, already with an accomplished track record spinning at New York clubs, he’s steadily been releasing top notch remix and original work, culminating the release of his debut EP The World Is Ours (ITunes).
I saw them perform this live at The Key Club before their brief absence to finish the album and cuz Jack was rocking out while in her 3rd Trimester (Hardest Working Pregnant Woman in Entertainment!). At the show it brought the house down.
With Thursday coming soon The Weeknd lets loose a track expected to make the cut on one of his two mixtapes to hit in the months to come. Check it out below or head to his Youtube page, here.
As the mystery of The Weeknd unravels this comes through the bay door. Previously in his career The Weeknd, Abel Tesfaye, was part of Canadian production team The Noise. The tracks below are from that period in his career, though perhaps not over yet, he is definitely taking on a greater presence as The Weeknd.
As the story goes, the track “Birthday Suit” is/was a demo for Drake; we’ll see if some version of it pops up on Drake’s follow up Take Care. Also look out for 2 more mixtapes by The Weeknd to follow up his outstanding R&B kick in the balls House of Balloons, the first of which title Thursday coming soon.
